Research and Education

The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition is committed to excellence in laboratory and patient-oriented research. The National Institutes of Health and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America fund our research programs. Current research projects include studies of intestinal growth and development, the effect of caloric energy balance and its impact on human nutritional diseases, congenital diarrheal disorders, eosinophilic disorders, and pediatric inflammatory bowel disease.

Education and Training for Professionals
Fellowship training offered by our division provides an excellent opportunity for a broad-based, comprehensive clinical and research experience. Two positions are available per academic year. Our 3-year training is designed such that fellows are expected to spend approximately one-third of the 3-year training program in clinical training and two-thirds in research. Opportunities exist for extending training for additional research and/or clinical experience.

We strive to offer a friendly, intellectually curious atmosphere. We expect our graduates to be outstanding in clinical competence, highly competitive for research funding, and to excel as teachers.

Visit the Department of Pediatrics' website to learn more about our division's research and education opportunities.
