Local Organizations and Funds

 

Alex's Lemonade Stand is a unique foundation that evolved from a young cancer patient's front-yard lemonade stand to a nationwide fundraising movement for childhood cancer.

Chemo DuckAmerican Childhood Cancer Organization provides support, education, and advocacy for children and adolescents with cancer, survivors of childhood/adolescent cancer, their families, and the professionals care for them. The local chapter meets the third Wednesday of every month from 6:30 - 8 p.m. Contact Lu Sipos at (615) 302-1355 or Jennifer Louis at (615) 383-2023 for additional information.

Gabe's My Heart is a group of dedicated health care professionals, cancer survivors, and business professionals whose purpose is to provide caregivers with the tools necessary to ease children's anxiety about treatment. They are committed to educating children about their cancer treatment in a manner they can understand.

Gilda's Club Nashville is a social and emotional support community for people with cancer, their families and friends. There is a new member meeting twice a week (with a day and evening time slot). Call (615) 329-1124 for reservations.

Jade's Fund helps families of children undergoing cancer treatment at Children's Hospital with every day living expenses that typically fall behind when a child is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, requiring a parent to stop working. The fund was started to honor the memory of Jade Pasley, who lost her battle with leukemia in 2000 at age 2. Her twin sister, Jillian, is a leukemia and bone cancer survivor. The fund is housed in the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center. If you are interested in assisting families through Jade's Fund, please send contributions to:

The Junior League Family Resource Center at Children's Hospital has a library of books, videos, and file materials available for parents and children to check out. They also have a Family Information Notebook (FIN) with information and forms to help your family care for your child. 

Katie's Helping Hand assists families of children with cancer who are admitted in the hospital. Katie is teenage cancer survivor at Children's Hospital, who wanted to help other children with cancer. The fund provides meals, long distance calling cards, and other items to families in need.

Ronald McDonald House Nashville provides a "home away from home" for families with seriously ill children receiving inpatient or outpatient treatment in a local Nashville hospital.
