Rare Lung Diseases Program
When your child is diagnosed with a rare lung disease, you want the best possible care. Our nationally recognized experts at Children's Hospital provide advanced diagnosis and treatment for children with rare lung diseases. We work side-by-side with you and your child’s other medical providers to coordinate evaluations and therapy.

- Interstitial lung disease, sometimes called ILD or chILD
- Surfactant mutations
- Lung development disorders
- Lymphatic disorders
- Lung diseases associated with immunodeficiency / immune dysfunction disorders
- Pulmonary vascular diseases / pulmonary hypertension
- Neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia of Infancy

Our program coordinator works closely with you and your referring doctor’s office to obtain medical records, coordinate scheduling, and any other administrative needs. Tracy Hughes, RN, and our entire pulmonary nursing team are available to answer your questions, help with medicine refills, and for other clinical support.
Many of the children referred to our clinic need diagnostic testing to help evaluate their pulmonary status. Read about several of our more common testing procedures, and pulmonary function testing that helps us diagnose many conditions and diseases.
